Solace in Art
September 20, 2007
This week has nearly broken my heart. But I’m proud to say that I was the first person to buy a limited-run print of Lisa Congdon’s incredible Birch Forest painting during her Etsy shop update today. I feel a little better. Now I just need to get my mitts on either this piece, or maybe this one.
ETA: Got the bird. It’s a softer message that will carry me through. Thank dog for Lisa.

Oh, geez. What’s going on? Can I help?
I don’t know which one I like better. They’re both beautiful.

I am always here to listen (though I won’t ask you to talk, nor will I have a lot to add to the conversation — shockingly!). Or you could just smack me around a bit if that makes you smile

Hope you’re okay and that things are getting better by the minute.
Gah, so lucky to own some Lisa Congdon works. Her artwork is so amazing and always makes me happy (even when it’s kinda sad). I could gush about her all day, I love her artwork so!

I read somewhere that you were having a, and I quote, “first class shitty week.” Sending out good vibes in your direction. If you need anything, we are neighbors, don’t forget that. Mwah!

I know you’ve had horrid finance fiascos this week– didn’t realize that it had made such a deep shadow on your usually sunny (or ornery) outlook. Would be glad to respond to a posted or private rant. You’re going through lots of changes what with school and work. Be patient with yourself, and remember the benefits of loving self care. The birches ARE healing and beautiful.

Sorry to hear about the shitty week — let me know if I can help. Glad you found some beauty to enjoy among the dreck. The birches are particularly magical!

hey sweetness,
what’s shakin’ in your world? wanna talk? wanna drink coffee or wine and eat huge rice krispy treats that are bigger than our heads? wanna meet at borders? wanna? wanna?
love the art. i’m obsessed with birch trees. i’m trying to reclaim my memories, and not associate them with a**hole boyfriend from college days… love lisa c., too. can you say girl crush?

I am so sorry that you are having such a long week. As always I am available if you need a shoulder. I love that Birch work. I love Birch trees and wish that I had a place in the yard to plant some. Hug Little Man and kiss Wifey and snuggle up with Nora and all will be right with the world again.

I read you often, but never comment…I so feel you pain. Please know that you and your son will get through this and be all the stronger for it. As a lesbian,(so I may be biased) I think that a break up is even more difficult, possibly the intense emotion between two women. Nine years ago I was “given the bad news,” I felt like a fish out of water - unable to breathe and I thought the hole in my heart would never heal . But it did and yours will too even tho it doesn’t seem like it now. Just take baby steps and keep it together as much as you can.
