silence. turn page. silence. turn page.

And now you’ve seen as much of my Wife as I have in the last 20 hours. She was one of the crazy souls who showed up at the bookstore at 12midnight last night, and she’s already 350 pages into it.

Me? I’m a little behind. I’m almost 1/2 way through Book 5, which is fun, but since we saw the movie last weekend, I already know how it ends.

But I DON’T know how Book 6 ends, so please don’t tell me. By some pop culture miracle, I’ve avoided hearing who dies at the end, and I’m trying to catch up. So no spoilers OK?

The little angel is sitting on my right shoulder telling me to finish the syllabus for the class that I start teaching on Monday night. The little devil is telling me to read Book 5. And let’s not even discuss the state of my house and pile of unpaid bills. Oy.

ETA: At 11am on Sunday Wifey stopped reading to mourn the end of an era.  She didn’t want to finish.  Didn’t want it to end.  Then she plowed through the last 100 pages and finished by 12noon.  I’m still 1/2 way through Book 5, but I’m ready to teach tomorrow night.  Syllabus? check. Lecture notes? check. Handouts? check.  goooood night . . . z z z z z z . . .

All I’ll say is that I cried at the end of #6, and I was on a plane to fly somewhere (don’t remember). I picked up Deathly Hallows at about 11AM & had to come home and do yardwork, then showered and read until we left to meet Franklin, Sister Sue, & B-I-L Phil for dinner, and at a quarter to one in the AM am on page 404. I know exactly why Wifey’s not putting it down.

Wifey is upset that I did not buy her a copy when I was at Barnes and Noble today….I had to get the book you recommended by Norah Gaughan……

I will have to atone and get it tomorrow after yoga….so don’t tell me how it ends either.

Let’s not discuss housework or unpaid bills….

You are not alone. Lovely photo.

Power through with your ears closed ;)
The ending of book 5 is much better than the movie ending….a bit more comic relief and nuance

I am re-reading 6 right now, and while Sparky and I did go get 7 at midnight, we got home and read one chapter and then stopped. We sort of don’t WANT to read it, since once we’ve read it, it’s over for-evah… :)

We picked up our copy at midnight Friday. Her Ladyship finished it at 3:30P Saturday (time out for a — very little — sleep and a riding lesson, but aside from that it was much like your house), then I picked it up and finished this morning.

I’m listening to the CD while I work on my sockapalooza socks. Because the story is that good.

Seeing the movie is very different than reading the book. The book is far more entertaining. Like Wifey, I have finished the series at this point, but cannot speak of it in my own home, as oldest child has her nose buried deep in it right now. Middle child is slightly ahead of you, reading HBP.

    Good luck.

I didn’t finish my re-read of 6 until Sunday morning. Got book 7 at noon on Sunday. I’m so afraid of spoilers. My whole commute this morning was iPod in ears, volume turned up to avoid overhearing anything, with my nose in book 7. My every conversation starts with “I have not yet finished.”

I won’t be reading mine until after September 18 … so don’t tell me a THING at SnB either. Why September? I’ve order all 7 books in a treasure box gift set so I’ll have the complete set in hardcover. I had past each of the others after reading them onto the grandchildren who also read them, but now I want the complete set for myself so I can go back and reread when I want. (like maybe when I’ve retired, huh?)

    I know … it’s silly. ;-)

I like Ruth’s solution: reading and knitting accomplished at the same time. (I know people who can read actual paper books and knit at the same time. I am not one of them.)

I’m with wenders. I’m about 1/3 of the way through 7, but i want to stop and finish re-reading 6 (which I had started to do last week leading up to the purchase of 7). Taz is still way back on book 2. Good luck in class!

Yeah, my husband was a Potter widower all weekend too. At least, he was once my copy arrived… it didn’t show up until Saturday afternoon and I was beside myself with anxiety and impatience. Real fun to live with. ;-)

I promise not to let anything slip!

I agree with Christy: the ending of book 5 is way better than the ending of movie 5. So you still have a bunch of stuff to discover!
