Philly Delphia Choo Choo
July 3, 2007
In three hours, Little Man and I* will board a train** headed for Philly to see the BFF&exGF#2; attend a BBQ at the suburban home of another dear friend from college; go to Sesame Place (the original reason for the trip); check out the Please Touch Museum; lounge on the beach; scour the sale baskets for el cheapo yarn at Loop while simultaneously preventing Little Man from unwinding anything expensive; stroll through the Magic Garden & let Little Man touch everything; gorge on crepes; introduce Little Man to the glory of hand-drawn noodles; pick up a new rainbow sticker for our not-even-a-little-gay car at Giovanni’s Room [why the bleep doesn't Boston have a gay bookstore?]; and search for fabric for Little Man’s quilt on Fabric Row.
We’ll be back in Boston on Sunday afternoon. Have a great weekend everyone!
* Wifey will be sitting on a beach with her head stuck in a book for 5 days. She might shake the sand out of her panties long enough to take a yoga class or go to the gym. In any case, this is a much-needed break for this grad-school-attending, full-time-urban-school-teaching, tolerating-my-shit mama. Pray for sunshine.
** Yes, I’m taking a 4-year-old on a 6-hour train ride (12 hours roundtrip). Fear for me. Thankfully he should sleep most of the way down; it’s the return trip that I worry about. But I have a heap of stuff to keep him entertained. Still — fear for me. Or him? Fingers tightly crossed.
——
ETA: Ooops, I almost forgot to share the toes of my Elinor’s Poseidon socks for my SockPal. With two train rides, hopefully there will be more to show come Sunday night.
And with 5 days of Little Man love, I’m sure I can negotiate some spinning time on Sunday, so I can add to this bobbin.
Later y’all!
ETA: As if Scooter shock isn’t enough today, check out this WTF moment, courtesy of my MIT pal Katie. Really? Lesbian gangs? If only … O’Reilly’s hairy ass woulda been snuffed long ago.
For real. I’m out.

Have fun…I suspect your four year old is not like my four year old, who could not last that long on a train. Have fun in Philly!

I’m so jealous you’re going to Philly for the 4th. SO. FUN. I miss home.
My Sockpal this year isn’t as fun as you were last year.

Lesbian Gangs with Pink Gubs….really now. What next? The boys will get jealous and we’ll have to let them have blue ones?
Fox needs to re-examine their programs…perhaps a boycott of Fox is a good idea….when their coffers get pinched perhaps they’ll wake up…..
Climbing off the soap box…back to the martini before the birthday bash starts….

Okay, I admit to skimming this post, but I was totally stunned, absolutely FLOORED! by your spinning. It is gorgeous! I can’t wait to see it in person. Maybe we can arrange that.

But don’t little boys LOVE trains? I took both of mine on a train to ND last fall…and it was actually pretty great. My recommendation? Bring games! We played games for a good part of the trip and had so much fun.
Oh and pretty socks! I’ve started and restarted my pal’s socks too many times. Now I’m waiting for dpns to come in the mail and I’m going to do a pattern EXACTLY as it’s written with the same tools and heels and everything…

1. Have a great trip!
2. I miss shopping at New Words… really a shame it isn’t around anymore.
3. That WTF moment would be hysterical if it weren’t so appalling. And, randomly, the author of that article and founder of the website is a good friend of mine from college; we were hallmates our first year.

Your road trip sounds very, very fun. I hope it’s terrific. And lesbian gangs terrorizing straight people? Don’t I wish…

“And in Philadelphia, a lesbian gang called DTO, Dykes Taking Over, are allegedly terrorizing people, as well.” — Now we know the real reason for your trip this weekend

well, my personal “WTF” moment is your SPINNING! Didn’t you just start a few months ago? Where do you get off getting that good that fast?!!! It’s a travesty for one person to be so mulltitalented *and* prolific.

Lesbian gangs with pink guns??!! If it weren’t such a sad day in news reporting, I would be laughing a lot harder than I am now. Who carries a pink gun beside maybe twits like those Hilton messes. Who makes pink guns?! I’d like to phone Smith and Wesson up just to hear them snorting on the other line when I ask about pink guns.
Hope you all both having a great time on your 5 days of doing something fun and or relaxing.

Have a great time! I hope you have lots of games! And think of the books you will have picked up for the way back!
I hope you like the socks! I think they look great!

according to my kidlings, honey, “snuffed” means “punched”. I know, i was shocked, too, but- times, they change. and i, for sure, am not touching that man’s ass.

Oh you’re going to have the best time … but I kinda fear for the Little Man. Ah, do you travel well? Good luck!

Okay, good luck on the train, have fun, please tell my sparky that I should get 5 days on a beach…
However. WHAT?! Poor crews of lesbians roaming the streets of DC?? That is absurd. ABSURD. I watched the clip and kept waiting for Jon Stewart’s voiceover of him laughing. They’re recruiting? Thank goodness I moved aware from that den of craziness. I just don’t know what else to say.

Your spinning is just gorgeous. I’m learning how to spin on a drop spindle and it’s fun, but frustrating as well. I am very impressed with wheel spinners. I hope you had a nice time in Philadelphia.

Just for giggles, Google - Pink handguns and - Where to buy a pink handgun. Some of the titles that come up are pretty damn funny. I think I know where they got their horrifically misinformed story though. There is an organization called The Pink Pistols. They are a gun club similar to the NRA only more for people who aren’t into hunting and stuff. If you read their main page you can see exactly how that got massacred into a “news” story about lesbian gangs with pink guns. Well, you can if you behave like a twelve year old telling rumours.

Have fun in NJ - I hope you see some of the pretty parts of the state! Are you taking a car on the train? That’s so cool!
