Favorite Things Monday: Caller I.D.

A couple months ago, this appeared on our caller i.d.
and I laughed my ass off.
Ever since, I’ve been wondering who called. Well today, Big Brother called again. Yes, as you probably already guessed, it’s Big Brothers Big Sisters, doing the lovely community service of calling to see if I have any clothes to donate, because they’ll be in my area and can pick them up.
Community service, whatever. They ruined my paranoid delusion that Big Brother had finally found me.

My parents got the same call last time I visited them. The funny thing is that they have some weird phone that announces the name of the caller, so through three or four rings it announced “call from big brother”. I joked that it was either the Man or my older brother.

I refer to my older brother as Big Brother, so I would’ve thought from him. However, the next logical step was in fact, Orwell’s Big Brother. I am right there with you, snickering.

OMG….if that doesn’t take the cake. I love Orwell and Huxley and Bradbury, so I would have rolled too….

We had the same caller ID last night! Dan looked at the phone and said to me “it’s Big Brother at XXX-XXX-XXXX- do you want to answer it?” and I said ” I think you might finally have to own up to all those downloaded files….”
I saved the # on the phone, y’know… just b/c.
Glad to see we weren’t the only ones that thought this was funny.
