A.D.D.=Dale
April 20, 2007
For many moons I’ve suffered from a serious case of knitter’s ADD. Serious. I get halfway through a project and I jump ship for the next beautiful butterfly to cross my path. Yes, I have tons of excuses (buying our first house, owning an old-old house, parenting, the surrogacy, working multiple jobs, etc…………into eternity……), but the reality is — I have a serious case of knitter’s ADD. And I’m about to jump ship again, leaving yet another UFO in my wake. I’ve been working at PepperKnit’s beautiful Anastasia socks in Sophie’s Toes Froggy that was a birthday gift from Suzanne (ow, my link finger hurts). At some point I’ll post a picture (and get back to those posts sitting in draft mode - see?-ADD).
Enter shitty weather and a Wifey+LittleMan+Nora weekend departure (yes folks, I’ll be ALONE this weekend. ALONE! I’m not sure when that happened last. Did I mention ALONE?). Now I have a quandry.
After spending time with Surro-Baby and her Dads last night, I’m desperate to knit her a beautiful sweater that expresses how truly blessed I feel to have contributed to her fetal development & her birth, and my hopes that we’ll stay close for a long long time. That level of love and devotion begs for a Dale, doesn’t it?
And I need color. Lots of it. I want to sit alone in the sun and knit something bright and cheery all weekend.
F–k the stash pledge, I’m getting lunch at Windsor Button today.
ETA: I got some Baby Ull and Book #162 to do …
in green & white with bright turq & orange accents. It’s gonna be a good weekend! [and Roro's absolutely invited]

Oooooh….can’t wait to see!!! And I feel you…knitters ADD is a tough thing to deal with…I keep hoping I will refocus on some of my languishing projects but for some strange reason my strain of ADD seems to lead me only to NEW projects!
And now, you with your dale? Will you tempt me?

A whole weekend alone and you’re planning KNITTING? Oh, honey, I don’t think so. Let me just see if they’ll let me take this stripper pole on the plane . . .

Oh ya knitting in the sun. I’ll be out there too. I HAVE to knit outside. So lets see, which project should I start … or finish. Well I do plan to cast on for another pair of socks sooo….. You know what? I think I have ADD too. Do you think?

Mmmm high fiber lunches! A Dale sweater sounds perfect but considering the ADD maybe you should go with a sweater-vest

I almost named my blog “The ADD Knitter” but didn’t want to offend those who have it across the board (I just have loads of tendencies). If I count up my WIPs, it could fill up a spreadsheet! I also bought a Dale kit for a baby. I don’t know what baby. All I know is that I saw this pattern for a beautiful Dale sweater and I got the kit. Now I need to find a baby to knit for!

I’m fighting a ferocious case of Startitis as we speak. So far I’m managing it by knitting blanket squares and warsh rags, but I don’t know how long that’s going to hold me. There are shawls and socks and sweaters that are calling to me! Plus spinning to do! I want to do it all! Right now!
P.S. Glad to know I’m not the only one who leaves post drafts lingering for ages. grin!

Erm… this is Thorny. I’m a dumbass. Never mind me.
P.P.S. The dale in green? Is gonna be gorgeous. Just make sure you take some pics, I wanna see!

That is going to be a great sweater, and a lovely gesture. And dude–like there is any one of us who does not totally feel you on the ADD? I’m fighing like hell not to start anything new right now!

To yourself! What will you do? Have fun for me. I don’t see a family-free weekend coming up around here any time soon!

A whole weekend all to yourself! I hope you enjoyed it to the fullest.
And you’ve been so good for so long, I think a little reward is in order.
Are you doing the whole baby set, or just the cardi?

That sweater is to squee for. So cute.
Come to think of it, the weekend alone is to squee for, too. Hope you enjoyed it.
