Major Fire at MIT
December 8, 2006
If you have access to local news, you may have caught news about the major fire in an MIT building in Kendall Square. I don’t have the details yet, because it just started, but there are people trapped, injured, etc.
The fire IS NOT in or near my building.
I am fine.
Danielle is fine.
The fire isn’t anywhere near Beth’s building either.
I’m holding my breath for our colleagues in 1 Broadway.

Sounds like it was a scary situation. Hope all those injured will be fine (boston.com has a scary photo of CPR being performed on a victim).
Emergency stairwells aren’t supposed to turn into chimneys like that.

I could hear the sirens, but I had no idea where they were headed (my window faces the wrong way.) And I didn’t see anything amiss when I wandered out at lunchtime. But now I know it was MIT! Gaaaaaah.

I’m so glad you’re okay. I read the news reports–it sounded terrifying for the people who worked there.

Jeez, thats freaky. I hope everyone is okay. Glad you are.
I really wish there were better, safer ways to get out of tall buildings. Too many people are hurt when something like this happens.
