What is this yarn?
June 16, 2005
Hi all. It’s me … Ms. Startitis. Once again, I need help from the gurus. This yarn is perfect for my sock pal. I already checked the loop website and couldn’t find it. That site is not very user-friendly, IMHO. Anyone know what it is?
UPDATE: Thanks a bundle to Local Egg from such a girl to me! I think you’re right. It’s ArtYarns Super Merino. Unfortunately, its a worsted weight yarn. Bummer. But — your suggestion of Koigu is excellent. For whatever reason, I didn’t think of it. THANKS!

This is a blind leap, but it looks like koigu to me. But again, a total guess!

How about ArtYarns Super Merino? The colors look right.

I must agree- the web site isn’t all that use friendly!

There are some similar Koigu colors at Patternworks (don’t know if they are all in stock or not) — http://www.patternworks.com/PWShopping/partsvyarn.asp?action=lookup&partno=883&subject=U40.L29&catpos=13.
The numbers 514 and 453 are greens similar to the photo you posted.
If Patternworks doesn’t have it, I know Threadbear Fiber Arts carries a lot — http://www.threadbearfiberarts.com/yarn/koigu/index.html

Oh yeah, that’s the supermerino alright. Yuuuuuum! I’ve made several socks with that yarn (see my “people who knit socks” archive page). It’s so soft and the knitting goes real quick when you’re on US6’s. Don’t count it out!
